NIA SSEN 0087 ELEVATE – Enhanced Learning Environment for Virtual & Accelerated Training Excellence

Key Activities

We are exploring how immersive technologies can modernise LV cable jointer training and assessment, improving the consistency, efficiency and standardisation of competency development. This project will develop and trial a Virtual Reality (VR) training and assessment platform that complements existing classroom learning and practical on-the-job experience. By accelerating exposure to safety-critical tasks and enhancing workforce readiness, the project aims to support the safe and efficient delivery of future network investment programmes while improving operational resilience and customer outcomes.

Expected Outcomes

• Help learners build skills and confidence faster through immersive VR training that provides more opportunities to practise and learn before carrying out tasks in the field.
• Improve safety, decision-making and job readiness by allowing learners to experience realistic operational scenarios in a safe environment where they can practise, learn from outcomes and prepare for real-world work.
• Deliver consistent, future-ready training that aligns with industry standards, provides clear evidence of competency, and creates a scalable approach that can be applied across a wider range of training activities.
